Today I had the opportunity to spend time with the incomparable Natalie Cole! Graceful, courteous, elegant, beautiful….the list goes on and on! I cannot say what an honor it was to be in her presence. She was so appreciative of your prayers and well wishes! I also reminded her of our first meeting waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy back in the day when she came to the set of “A Different World.” I remember it so well because on that tape day was my birthday. Patti Labelle and Diahann Carroll were guest stars. Ms. Natalie Cole was friends with our show’s hair stylist and had come to the taping. On that day Patti Labelle held me and sang happy birthday! To this day I have not recovered from that one!
I had to escort Natalie Cole backstage from the studio audience. She learned it was my birthday and greeted me with a hug and offered ½ of her last stick of gum! LOL. I gladly accepted and held on to the gum for far longer than I should have. We had a laugh about that story today.
Natalie Cole, thank you for being such a light and inspiration to us all! Know that you are whole, healthy, happy and complete…just as God created you. We are blessed to have you in our lives! Love you!

Urban Flava Entertainment hosted its benefit White Party last night in downtown ATL. Many ATL-iens showed their support...why was I not invited?..hmmmm...LOL I'll have to get Urban Flava about that! Nonetheless, I can't be everywhere all the time. Fortunately my friend Duane Addison shared pictures from the White Party. To view the slideshow click here
Proceeds from last night's benefits programs for teens living with HIV.
Urban Flava Entertainment will host entertainment here every Sunday. If you are in town on a Sunday stop by Uptown Restaurant and Lounge at 201 Courtland Street downtown Atlanta. Cost is $7.
You may have seen my friend Kevin in previous posts. He regularly hosts popular events around the Atlanta area (mostly) which focus on partying with a purpose. Toys and toiletry drives are usually the two biggest of his annual soirees!
Kevin did not want to host a huge part this year, but close friends couldn't resist coming toghether to honor our esteemed friend. Get in to the video and pics below.

I rarely meet someone with such a positive disposition at such a young age. JoWork, like many other young men, is vibrant and full of energy.
However, unlike many of his peers, he has a clear vision of his life's direction and a positive disposition few achieve in a lifetime. I was so impressed with his manners, intelligence, passion and experience. A humble young man, JoWork seems oblivious to his obvious sex appeal. As we strolled through Atlanta's Piedmont park, many onlookers took second and third glances as he passed.
Be sure to check out his YouTube channel!
Get in to Part 1 of our interview, which features a cameo by Qaadir.

On location in Chicago, this episode features another hot YouTuber, London! His channel, ISoLoveLondon was one of the first I discovered. His original skits are hilarious as he portrays a cast of favorite characters.
We caught up with one another in Chicago and had a very in depth conversation on the lakefront, near the Natural History Museum. Watch as London "flips the script" and interviews me. Unexpected, I loved the spontenaiety and answered his questions candidly. It gets deep ya'll!

When I graduated from Pepperdine University some many years ago, my first job was on the set of the hit NBC series, "A Different World." One of the main reasons I wanted to work on that show was Ms. Jasmine Guy! Grounded, beautiful and always a pleasure to be around, Jasmine's light always shines! After the show I lost touch with most of the cast and crew, occasionally running into them here and there.
Jasmine was in Atlanta starring in the stage production of "Miss Evers' Boys" which, thankfully, was extended! I like to think they held it over just so I could catch the last show. LOL. Jasmine's performance was on point! There was no Whitley Gilbert here! The ensemble cast also featured T.C. Carson ("Living Single") and was directed by Kenny Leon (every Broadway show you can name). It was also a reunion with my longtime friend David Blackwell, the shows stage manager. David was also our stage manager on "A Different World".
Backstage there was a champagne toast with the cast and crew led by Kenny Leon.
Next we headed to a nearby restaurant where the cast mingled for an intimate wrap party. Here are a few pics and footage from the party. Also on hand to show love is "Grey's Anatomy co-star James Pickens Jr.
