NYC PRIDE 2009- DISHIN' WITH DWIGHT ALLEN O'NEAL

Dishin' With Dwight brought out the who's who of NYC black gay media. The mixer was specifically designed to physically connect many of the prominent members of the online community. Held in NYC's East Village, I arrived with close friend and author, James Earl Hardy. In addition to host Dwight Allen O'Neal, "Noah's Arc" co-star Rodney Chester and DeMarco Majors of "Shirts & Skins" were also in attendance. I had the chance to meet many of the people who's work I follow.

It is always refreshing to see the community come together and fellowship on the positive. Thank you Dwight Allen O'Neal. The event was sponsored by The Future and Nathan Seven Scott.

GOLDEN GIRL "BLANCHE" MAKES CAMEO ON 3LWTV!

Life is such an interesting journey when you choose to live it. Always be present, as you never know who will enter your life that day to change it forever.

Any friend of mine knows how I LOVE me some "Golden Girls"....always have always will. At some point I have been fortunate enough to meet them in person. Headed to the gym in Chicago I passed the ABC Studios and who was there but Rue McClanahan, "Blanche" from the Golden Girls. While I did meet her many moons ago at Disneyland, I was still excited to see her. She was in town to present an award and was appearing on the local television station. As she left the studio I got a chance to speak with her briefly.

Get into "Blanche's" debut on 3LWTV. LOLOLOL

MAURICE JAMAL TALKS 'FRIENDS & LOVERS'--CHICAGO AMONG FIRST TO SEE NEW GROUNDBREAKING SERIES

Writer/Producer/Actor/Director Maurice Jamal ("Ski Trip" "Dirty Laundry") recently previewed his hot new cable series, "Friends and Lovers" before a select audience, which included me of course, in Chicago. Hosted by Windy City Black Pride, this fundraiser for the organization's annual July 4 weekend celebrations brought a packed house to Chicago's North side hot spot, Sidetrack. On the heels of an overwhelming response from a screening at Sizzle Miami, I was excited to see how the Midwest crowd would receive the project.

Typical of Maurice's screenings, the audience guffaws were out of control. New faces, plot twists, unexpected performances, original themes all contribute to refreshing chemistry of "Friends and Lovers." Despite some technical difficulties with the presentation, the very determined director would stop at nothing to make sure the audience viewed the film in its entirety. Afterwards G Magazine Now Editor, Waddie Grant, moderated and question and answer period in which Maurice not only spoke on "Friends and Lovers" but gave an update on the status of the highly anticipated movie, "B-Boy Blues." To see more, watch the video below.

3LWTV GOES TO MOSCOW!!!!

My first trip to Russia was yet another brilliant learning experience. Yes, I had pre-conceived notions and once again experience squashed ignorance. I thought Russia was always cold and dreary. What I found this time of year was temperate weather and mostly clear skies. I thought the people would be bland and of no interest. What I found was a very fashion forward city with a bustling economy. I said there would be no black people. Though I got many stares, I saw many other men and women of color. Not like London or Paris, but certainly enough to not make me feel like the lone wolf. Even more important, I found great sushi!

I strolled the streets and underground soaking up the local culture. Lots of cigarette smokers, few overweight people spotted, great shopping, American food chains...in many ways Moscow is like other European cities. I didn't find that people did a lot of smiling, though they were very courteous when approached. Traffic was horrible but I did excited when the ATM dispensed both Russian and US currencies!!!

Here is some video and stills shot during my visit.

Thank you as always for letting me share.
